In Chad, a few days ago, we told about the discovery of the Chadian Convention for the Defense of Human Rights by a secret prison of the National Security Agency. CTDDH condemns a real death. The government talks about dungeons where prisoners are treated “very well”. RFI found five former residents of this detention center, two of whom agreed to testify with their faces exposed.

The National Security Bureau’s secret prison is located on the road to Farcha, opposite the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure.

Versinis Dingamnayal, the president of the collective against the dear life stayed there for the first time in April 2017 after a strike from traders. Daniel Ngadjadoum had preceded him there two months earlier for an uncompromising forum against President Idriss Deby.

Their versions are consistent and both claim to have been taken to this detention center blindfolded. Once there, they were “thrown” into a small, overcrowded cell. Versini’s Dingamnayal tells by the microphone ofEsdras Ndikumana, from the RFI department in Africa: “when I was taken to the dungeon, I was handcuffed and handcuffed … the prison was gloomy, black!”

According to these witnesses, the abuse, planned between 11pm and 4am, began on the first day of jail. Daniel Ngadjadoum in turn tells: “chili in the eyes, (blows) with a stick, with an electric cable … we stick a pipe in the stomach, we open the tap at high pressure and the water will fill your stomach … and then we remove the tube and we go on your stomach … ”

Another variant of the torture, chili powder in a plastic bag and the tortured head locked in the plastic bag, says Versinis Dingamnayl. And after “they pour water” on the head.

“And during that time we will starve,” he adds. Only one meal is served per day.

Both are public figures: the local and international media have immediately seized their cases and they will be released soon. At the time, doctors noted the abuse of the opponent and civil society activist, have complained.

No action has yet been taken against their torturers, they say.
