France and Minusca protest against accusations

The Central African Republic is six weeks away from the presidential election. On the spot, everyone is busy organizing the vote and meeting the deadlines. But again, the attacks are increasing in the media and on social networks, which is beyond some players.

as reported from Bangui,Charlotte cosset

Last week, the French embassy published a press release. If it maintains the promised support for organizing the electoral process, it denies the disinformation campaign aimed at it. “Faced with this harmful atmosphere and the attempts to instrumentalize its actions in connection with the election, the embassy will not provide new funding for the election process,” the statement said.

This week, it was Minusca’s turn to condemn misinformation and incitement to hatred of peacekeepers. “The mission goes on to document all of these speeches so that their authors can be held accountable for their actions,” the UN said.

Given that these complaints were increasing, the presidency reacted this weekend in turn in a press release. She assured her partners that this incorrect information did not reflect the official position of the Central African Government. It demands that these attacks be stopped so that “our partnership does not suffer from this harmful instrumentalisation, which otherwise does not contribute to a good climate for the electoral process”.
