Félix Tshisekedi traveled about twenty kilometers from Goma. He visited the place where the road is cut by lava and then a mobile hospital deployed for the benefit of the victims. He also spoke to the displaced.
Long-sleeved shirt, mask in place, Félix Tshisekedi was accompanied by his wife to the foot of Nyiragongo, where he received explanations from the volcanological observatory in Goma.
The head of state asked questions in particular about the possibility of a new eruption during the days, months and years to come and the likely course of the lava. He was also very interested in the probability of lava flowing into the dangerous lake Kivu, rich in methane gas.

Félix Tshisekedi then went to the site of the mobile hospital that has just been built. Doctors and military nurses are deployed there to support the civilian medical corps. The circuit is carefully composed with a pathway that takes into account measures to combat coronavirus.
This mobile hospital has a capacity of 20 beds and will take care of first aid for certain pathologies such as respiratory diseases, malaria and even minor surgeries. Dr Mwaluka, Head of the National Emergency and Disaster Program at the Ministry of Health, explains: “In severe cases, we send them to three hospitals: the General Hospital, the Army General Hospital and the Police Hospital.”
Next to this hospital complex, a website will be set up to accommodate thousands of displaced persons.
Félix Tshisekedi spoke to the thousands of residents who have taken refuge at the Kahembe school, still in Kibati. In this school, the displaced people need many things. Georgette has spent the night for three weeks in a classroom: “A displaced person has died here due to hunger. We did not know how to help him. We suffer here. We do not know how to get out of it “.
At the end of his visit, Félix Tshisekedi promised better conditions for these displaced people. “I only talked to members of the military engineering corps. They will build you a house here ”. He also called on the authorities to prosecute the alleged perpetrators of aid.
