A small plane traveling from the Czech Republic crashed near Croatia’s coastal city of Zadar, leaving two people dead, authorities said late last night.
Croatian police said the search began after air traffic controllers raised the alarm when the aircraft’s signal disappeared at about 4pm (3pm Ireland time).

Rescuers located the wreckage in the mountains of Paklenica National Park, around 60 kilometres northeast of Zadar.
“The search for the missing ultralight plane was concluded around 10pm when members of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service found the plane and two dead persons,” police said in a statement.
Authorities are expected to secure the crash site ahead of an on-site investigation into the circumstances of the incident, scheduled to begin in the early hours of the morning.
