A tragic incident in Lagos unfolded as rescue teams rescued 26 individuals from the debris of a collapsed three-storey shopping complex located in Alakija. The grim discovery of nine bodies, including that of a baby girl, underscores the urgency of ongoing search and rescue efforts.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) remains steadfast in its commitment to uncovering more survivors. In a collaborative effort, LASEMA is joined by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), private sector collaborators, and members of the Local Emergency Management Committee.
Authorities reported that both heavy and light-duty equipment have been deployed to meticulously sift through the rubble. The operations are set to persist until the entire area is thoroughly cleared. At this stage, the cause of the building’s collapse remains undetermined.
