Jubbaland State Calls on Federal Legislators for an Urgent Consultation in Kismayo

**Kismayo (AX)** — Ahmed Madobe, the President of Jubbaland State, has extended an invitation to the federal lawmakers from Jubbaland for a consultation gathering in Kismayo. This invitation follows a similar summons from the Northeastern State administration for its own federal parliamentary representatives.

In a letter dispatched on Sunday from the Office of the Jubbaland President, officials called upon members from both legislative Houses to assemble in Kismayo, the provisional capital, between November 8 and 11. The primary goal of this meeting is to discuss the current political landscape in Somalia and how it influences Jubbaland.

The invitation arrives shortly after the resignation of two key federal ministers from Jubbaland—Deputy Minister of Education Ahmed Isman Ibrahim Daqare and Minister of State for Planning and International Cooperation Abdirashid Jire Qalinle. Their departures stem from rising tensions with the federal government, which they claim is instigating discord with regional administrations, namely SSC, Northeastern State, and Jubbaland itself.

On October 22, Northeastern State’s administration also convened its federal lawmakers in Garowe to deliberate on the growing rift between themselves and the federal authority regarding the electoral process.

Both Jubbaland and Northeastern State have opted out of recent National Consultative Council sessions in Mogadishu, a move that highlights their escalating separation from the federal government.
