Somalia Denounces Lethal Terror Assault on Turkish Aerospace Industries

Mogadishu (AX) — Condemning a bloodcurdling assault on Turkish Aerospace Industries, the Somali government described it as a “vile” act threatening worldwide tranquility. The ambush, striking near Ankara’s TUSAS headquarters, tragically claimed five lives and injured 22 others, Turkish officials confirmed.

“This pusillanimous attack goes beyond targeting Turkey; it endangers global stability,” Somalia’s Foreign Ministry shared. “Having wrestled with similar adversities, Somalia stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Turkey in solidarity.”

Commending the rapid action of Turkish security personnel, Somalia voiced optimism that justice would prevail. The ministry urged international alliances to fortify their stand against terrorism, preventing any wobbling of our united resolve to shield humanity and nurture peace.

The intricate offensive at TUSAS—a cornerstone in producing drones and fighter jets—unfolded as detailed by Turkish authorities. Surveillance footage captured a male and female perpetrator advancing with weapons and backpacks. An ensuing explosion filled the air, followed by the clatter of gunfire. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya pointed fingers at the militant Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), though responsibility remains unclaimed.

The attack, which took the lives of four TUSAS staff and a cab driver, sparked fears regarding the safeguarding of Turkey’s vital defense apparatus. The PKK, labeled a terrorist faction by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, has engaged in a protracted insurrection against Turkish authorities.

From the BRICS summit in Russia, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lambasted the attack as a strike on national survival and the defense realm. Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his sympathies, and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte firmly stated, “NATO stands resolutely with Turkey, condemning terrorism in every guise.”

Echoing its enduring fight against terror, Somalia reaffirmed its allegiance to combating terrorism alongside Turkey. “With unwavering commitment and shared ideals, Somalia remains beside Turkey and the global community in this enduring challenge,” the ministry concluded.
