the government “notes” the return date

Laurent Gbagbo will return on June 17. The government “notes” this announcement made on Monday by its supporters, after regretting on Tuesday 1 June that it had not been heard. Discussions between the former president’s and government envoys continue to prepare for this return and, in particular, to know what form it will take.

as reported from Abidjan, Pierre Pinto

While the controversy has swelled for 48 hours over the announcement of Laurent Gbagbo’s return on June 17, Reconciliation Minister Kouadio Konan Bertin visited the FPI GOR on Monday.

After the release, KKB killed the controversy. “The two parties are in negotiations so that this return is a peaceful return. We are now a state governed by the rule of law. Gbagbo is a free man. It is up to him to decide when he will come to his country. We have learned that he will come on the 17th. We note that, the Minister for Reconciliation explained.

For his part, FPI GORAssoa Adoua’s secretary general indicated that he had met with Prime Minister Patrick Achi on Monday and that the latter had said that he was prepared to rent a plane if necessary to bring Laurent Gbagbo back to the country.

Close the controversy

Before the press, KKB and Assoa Adou wanted to close the controversy, born first of the authorities’ silence, then of the reaction from Minister of Communications Amadou Coulibaly, who regretted that the government was not consulted. “For us, there is no date,” he told RFI. If Laurent Gbagbo did not consult the government before announcing the date of his return, the FPI says that the Prime Minister was warned already on Monday afternoon.

Now it remains to solve the annoying question: the format of this format. Popular reception as requested by REIT. A more modest and solemn welcome, as the authorities wanted.
