the situation is escalating between breeders and farmers
In Chad, we have witnessed a generalization of the conflict between farmers and shepherds for two months. There are dozens of deaths in several provinces. Serious allegations are being made against the civilian and military authorities. This situation, which has been going on for several years, is only getting worse.

During the night from Sunday to Monday, a field between Delbian and Béré, in Tandjilé, in southern Chad, was destroyed, leaving seven farmers and shepherds dead. The angry population attacked the prefecture and vandalized two administrative vehicles.
A few days earlier, about twenty deaths were recorded in the province of Batha in a similar conflict. The province of Ouaddaï in the east has also counted twelve deaths after the destruction of a field.
Peasant-shepherd conflicts have been cycling for several years at the end of the rainy season. Hearers forced by climate change to move to seek pasture arrive at the edge of the fields before harvest. This causes tensions with landowners which are often rejected by the authorities. And the breeders are seen as protected by the authorities.
Last Friday, the bishops of Chad called the head of state to invest in stopping these clashes that undermine unity between the Chadians.
