Somali Tech Company Tabaarak ICT Donates Eid Clothing to Vulnerable Families

Tabaarak ICT provides Eid clothing, gifts to 100 girls in Mogadishu as part of Ramadan drive

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somali technology company Tabaarak ICT organized a community support event in Mogadishu on Sunday, distributing Eid clothing, gifts and essential items to 100 girls from orphaned and low-income families as part of its annual Ramadan charity program.

The initiative, held under the banner of the company’s “Farxadda Afurka” program, is designed to promote social solidarity during the holy month and help vulnerable families prepare for Eid with dignity.

Participants received new clothing, holiday gifts and basic necessities, according to organizers. The company said the support was targeted to families who face financial strain when preparing for Eid festivities, a period when spending on clothing and food typically rises.

“Supporting orphans and children from disadvantaged families is essential for building a stronger and more inclusive society,” said Mohamed Tawane, head of the Business Division at Tabaarak ICT. He added that the company views the Ramadan initiative as a core part of its broader commitment to community support.

Parents who attended the distribution welcomed the effort, saying the assistance eased the burden of holiday preparations for families still struggling to cover daily expenses. “For many families, preparing for Eid can be difficult. This support has made a meaningful difference for our children,” said Haboon Abdullahi, whose child benefited from the program.

While best known for its technology solutions and digital services, Tabaarak ICT has in recent years incorporated social responsibility work into its operations, including projects centered on education, innovation and youth empowerment. Company representatives said those initiatives are intended to create opportunities for young people and reinforce community networks that can provide support beyond seasonal aid.

Community-focused efforts often gain momentum during Ramadan, a month when many organizations and individuals prioritize charitable giving. In Mogadishu and other Somali cities, private-sector contributions have increasingly complemented local relief drives, especially ahead of Eid, when ensuring children have clothing and families can celebrate together is a point of pride for many communities.

Tabaarak ICT did not disclose the total cost of Sunday’s distribution, but organizers emphasized that the program is recurring and tailored to reach households identified by community partners. The selection of beneficiaries focused on orphaned children and families with limited income, groups that can be overlooked as holiday spending and social obligations increase.

  • Beneficiaries: 100 girls from orphaned and low-income families
  • Support provided: Eid clothing, gifts and essential items
  • Organizer: Tabaarak ICT, a Somalia-based technology and digital services firm
  • Program: Annual Ramadan initiative “Farxadda Afurka,” aimed at fostering social solidarity

Parents at the event said the support not only lightened immediate expenses but also lifted children’s morale ahead of the holiday. For organizers, that sense of dignity and inclusion is as central to the effort as the material assistance itself.

With Eid approaching, Tabaarak ICT’s initiative underscores how corporate social responsibility efforts can complement community-led support, particularly in seasons when needs and expectations rise. Organizers said the company will continue to integrate community programs into its broader mission while working with local partners to identify vulnerable families for future outreach.
