Jubbaland Claims Villa Somalia is Financing Social Media Campaigns Against Ahmed Madobe

Mogadishu (AX) – Mohamed Hassan Hiis, the Communication Director for Jubbaland Regional State, has thrown some bold accusations at Somalia’s presidency. He alleges they’re bankrolling a negative campaign on social media aimed squarely at Jubbaland’s head honcho, Ahmed Madobe.

Hiis pointed his finger at Abdiqadir Ali Dige, Villa Somalia’s communications chief, claiming he’s the mastermind behind this orchestrated social media blitz to tarnish Madobe’s reputation.

“Mr. President, can you really bank on these delegations to patch things up while your own crew funds jabs and spins tales against the leaders you’ve invited to the forum?” Hiis snapped, referencing a supposed missive penned by Dige, which added fuel to the narrative fire.

This war of words unfolds amidst the ongoing National Consultative Council (NCC) powwow, which sees federal and regional bigwigs gathered in Mogadishu for its fifth day. President Madobe is standing firm against the central government’s push for a universal voting system, holding out for the indirect elections Jubbaland saw back in 2019.

The federal brass, including President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, are staunchly advocating for a nationwide direct vote, which Madobe isn’t buying.

In contrast, Abdirahman Hudeyfi, who speaks for the presidency, put a positive spin on the situation. He painted the NCC huddles as harmonious and hopeful, forecasting a joint political accord soaring Somalia’s state-building endeavors. “The NCC meetings are cruising along well, no bumps in the road, and hefty resolutions should hit the press soon,” shared Hudeyfi.

The NCC meeting is slated to wrap up by Sunday, with major announcements expected regarding Somalia’s election plans and governance strategies.
