Hormuud Salaam Foundation Honors Second Group of Scholarship Graduates in Mogadishu
MOGADISHU, Somalia — Hormuud Salaam Foundation recently threw a bash to celebrate their second lot of scholarship whiz kids in Mogadishu. It’s a testament to HSF’s relentless drive to put the wind beneath Somalia’s educational wings.
Imagine an eclectic mix of bright sparks from Agriculture to Computer Science, and Sales to Law & Sharia—they’ve all strutted across the stage with diplomas from top dogs like SIMAD and Somali National University in hand. And guess who foot the bill? Yep, the magical money tree known as Hormuud Salaam Foundation after a nail-biting selection round in 2020.
Abdullahi Nur Osman, the big cheese over at Hormuud Salaam Foundation, kicked off the shindig. He sang praises of education’s superpower potential, crowing, “Education is the cornerstone of progress,” while patting both graduates and the foundation on the back for a job well done. “We’re waving goodbye to our graduates, and rolling out the welcome mat for the new kids,” Osman quipped. “We’ve got our eyes on fields that’ll throw Somalia into turbo mode!”
Then Dr. Mohamed Hassan Bideey, at the helm of the Somali Universities Association, took the mic, waxing lyrical about how initiatives like these are the building blocks of a new Somalia. He hailed the foundation’s scholarships, sharing, “HSF’s action? Absolutely a page-turner. They’re not just building student futures, they’re crafting the country’s destiny.”
The statement from HSF gave the grads a virtual high-five: “We held countless workshops to sharpen the students’ toolkit along their academic quest. Hats off to our graduates and their families; here’s to the next leg of your adventure!”
Then came a parade of heartfelt speeches. Mohamed Abdi Hoor from Hormuud Telecom, parents brimming with pride, and a bright-eyed student whose life took a new trajectory thanks to the scholarship shared their tales. Hoor declared, “Hormuud Telecom’s got its finger in every pie that promises a community boost. Our slogan? Somali support from Somali people.”
One proud parent melted hearts, stating, “Today’s grads stand on golden opportunities handed to them by HSF. They’re the next torchbearers, ready to take the baton from those teaching now.”
With certificates flying like confetti, the graduates basked in recognition for not just passing but acing their courses.
Never a dull moment at Hormuud Salaam Foundation—Mogadishu’s own champion for the common good. They’re pumping millions yearly into education, healthcare, and more like a bottomless pit of goodwill.
