Gedo’s Intelligence Head Accuses Jubbaland Leader of Hindering State Progress

Mogadishu (AX) – Abdirashid Janan, the intelligence head for Somalia’s Gedo region, has leveled some serious claims against Jubbaland’s leader, Ahmed Madobe. He asserts that Madobe is a roadblock to the area’s progress, and the Somali government is all in to wrest control from his grip.

In the past, Janan played a significant role in Jubbaland’s security arena. Now, he accuses Madobe of transforming the region into his personal fiefdom, where differing opinions are quashed under pressure.

Madobe, according to Janan, often uses clan affiliations as a divisive tool. “He’s using clan identity to fracture and isolate communities,” said Janan, expressing concern about this tactic.

“Ahmed Madobe ordered Gedo officers to torch their own homes, promising them ranks and riches,” Janan revealed, mentioning that some officers have already switched allegiances to the federal camp, with others possibly enlisting in the national army upon their arrival.

Janan further alleged that Madobe directly blocks efforts to free Bu’ale district, Jubbaland’s heart. He’s worried that liberating this area might undermine his authority.

The tension has escalated since the federal government sent Janan and others into Gedo. It sparked skirmishes between federal troops and Madobe loyalists, culminating in the capture of Beled Hawo district by government forces.
