Djibouti City (Horn Observer + Lamaane.net) – On Sunday, July 5, Minister Fardoussa Moussa Egueh convened a preparatory meeting in Djibouti City as officials moved to finalize organizational plans and choose the theme for the 13th Annual Presidential Youth Award, the nationwide initiative presented each year by President Ismail Omar Guelleh.
The session assembled ministry officials charged with coordinating the competition, which aims to spotlight and reward young Djiboutians who take part in cultural, civic and youth development activities. Attendees reviewed administrative procedures, mapped out planning arrangements and advanced the selection process for the official theme that will frame this year’s contest.
Chairing the meeting, Minister Fardoussa Moussa Egueh stressed the need for early, clear coordination to run the competition smoothly and ensure it reaches eligible youths across the country. Officials assessed departmental responsibilities and set tentative timelines for the competition’s launch and the subsequent evaluation stages.
Now in its 13th year, the Presidential Youth Award has become a fixture on Djibouti’s national calendar, presented under the patronage of President Ismail Omar Guelleh. Past editions have been used to promote youth engagement in education, culture, innovation and civic life through organized contests and public recognition, and government representatives said the process helps align youth programs with national development goals while strengthening ties between state institutions and young citizens.
