Sergio Aguero’s biggest Manchester City goal

Where in the world do you start with this?

It seems like 90% of Sergio Aguero’s time in Manchester City has been spent driving away to celebrate, but with the announcement that he will be leaving the club this summer, there are at least just 257 City goals (for now) for us to wade through before picking out our top ten.

The Argentine national team player leaves Etihad Stadium with no less than four Premier League titles, an FA Cup and five EFL Cups to his name, and who knows how many more additions there will be to that list coming at the end of the season.

Anyway, we will not keep you longer. Here’s a look at the top ten goals from Aguero’s time in Manchester City …

When you move to the Premier League for as high as £ 35 million, you will not have much time to settle into your new surroundings before you are expected to produce the goods.

Many foreign imports have failed at such expectations, but not Sergio.

Hitman struck twice in his City debut against Swansea, and it is the second of his two strikes that makes it to place ten on our list.

Aguero just needed a touch to get the ball out of his feet before releasing an unstoppable drive past Swan goalkeeper Michel Vorm and into the bottom corner.

A really memorable introduction to the Premier League,

One thing you can never accuse Aguero of is setting his goal record against bad opposition.

The City frontman has a fantastic record against some of the best sides in the Premier League, and Manchester United in particular will be happy to see the back of him.

The first of our contributions against City’s neighbors is his thunderous strike at the Etihad in November 2018. Aguero played a glorious one-two with Riyad Mahrez before firing the ball high into the net, giving David de Gea no chance.

Aguero beat himself when City blew away Sunderland at the Light Stadium in 2014, and the first of his two goals was an absolute beauty.

The Argentine picked up the ball and musketed Sebastian Coates before he rifled the ball past former City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon and into the back of the net.

Manchester United post number two.

David Moyes did not like the biggest starters in his life as United manager when the two sides met in September 2013, so the last thing he needed was to drum up his local rivals.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side struck early on the front thanks to Aguero’s brilliance.

Samir Nasri combined with Aleksandar Kolarov on City left before the latter swung the ball into the box. There was still a lot to do but Aguero made it look easy, took the ball on the volley and fired his side into the lead.

It was not exactly a brilliant goal, but it is quite illegal not to talk about it in any article that even mentions the name Sergio Aguero.

That being said – given the enormous pressure he was under – it was still a nice strike.

With City’s Premier League title dreams hanging by a thread and United ready to celebrate, Aguero skipped the challenge from Nedum Onuoha and smashed the ball into the bottom corner.

Like you even need to remind yourself of that goal.

Another strike against one of the Premier League’s big hitters.

Chelsea were well destroyed by City during their visit to Etihad already in February 2019, and no surprise was that Aguero was at the forefront of everything.

He hit a hat-trick as Pep Guardiola’s men ran out, convincing 6-1 winners, with his first goal of the game taking praise as he curled an incredible 20-yard attempt past the helpless Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Aguero’s low center of gravity has led him to slip past Premier League defenders with ease since he came to England ten years ago, and it was there for all to see when he tore Watford’s defense in 2017.

By picking up the ball on the right side, the tricky frontman managed to turn past four Hornets players before sliding the ball under Heurelho Gomes.

Aguero’s strike against Liverpool in 2013 gets the nod for our place three just for the boldness alone.

With Red’s goalkeeper Pepe Reina rushing out, City forward hit him to the ball but found himself running towards the corner flag with his back to the goal. In order not to be denied, Aguero swung and somehow managed to hook the ball back towards the goal and over Liverpool’s back line.

The goal was a combination of skill, agility and boldness, and that summed up Aguero as a player.

We promise that this is the last for all United fans who for some reason read an article about City’s greatest goal scorer ever.

Undoubtedly his finest Manchester derby goal, Aguero weaved his way through United’s backline and left a host of defenders in the wake before showing balance to stay on his feet and unleash a toxic drive past De Gea.

Maybe not a goal that will immediately come to mind when you think of fantastic Aguero goals, but honestly, it’s brilliant.

The Argentine connected to compatriot Carlos Tevez, with the pair playing an instinctive one-two before Aguero fired an accurate drive past John Ruddy and into the upper corner.

Everything about the goal flowed only from class, from the creativity in the construction to the implementation of goals, and that is why it will be top position on our list of the biggest Aguero goals for Manchester City.
