Iran Launches Hypersonic Strikes at Israel Amid Trump’s Call for Total Surrender

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Iran has announced the launch of hypersonic missiles aimed at Israel, coinciding with former President Donald Trump’s call for the Islamic Republic’s “unconditional surrender.” The diplomatic tensions are palpable as the conflict stretches into its sixth day.

Trump has made it clear that the United States remains uninvolved in Israel’s military actions; however, he cautioned Iran that “patience is wearing thin.” Israeli forces conducted overnight airstrikes targeting the Iranian capital, urging civilians in one district to evacuate for their safety.

The Israeli Defense Forces have confirmed that these strikes focused on weapons manufacturing sites and facilities utilized for centrifuge production in Tehran.

During this intense exchange, Iran’s military touted “the 11th wave of Operation Honest Promise 3,” utilizing Fattah-1 missiles, which were noted for their advanced maneuverability and speed — traveling over five times the speed of sound. This makes them particularly challenging to intercept.

In addition to missiles, Iran deployed a “swarm of drones” towards Israeli territories, with reports confirming that the Israeli military intercepted two of them over the Dead Sea region.

Global powers are seeking diplomatic solutions to prevent this conflict from spiraling into a larger regional war. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty engaged in separate conversations with both his Iranian counterpart and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, urging a peaceful resolution.

Stirring the pot, Trump hastily exited the G7 summit in Canada, where world leaders advocated for a ceasefire, leading to speculation regarding potential U.S. intervention.

In Washington, Trump’s rhetoric escalated as he suggested the Islamic Republic’s “unconditional surrender” was the only acceptable outcome. He also made a controversial claim regarding the capabilities of the U.S. military, suggesting, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding.” Despite this, he noted, “We are not going to take him out … at least not for now,” shared on his Truth Social platform.

Trump convened with his National Security Council to discuss the ongoing conflict, concluding without an immediate public statement. Although he has expressed a desire to avoid entanglements in “forever wars,” he ordered the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier and numerous U.S. military aircraft to the region — indicating heightened preparedness while emphasizing that no decision for intervention had been finalized.

Despite international concerns, neither Iran nor Israel appears willing to deescalate from the extensive attacks that began on Friday. Israel’s air campaigns reportedly resulted in the deaths of notable Iranian military figures, including senior commander Ali Shadmani.

Both nations have seen devastating strikes target residential areas, prompting foreign governments to initiate evacuations of their citizens. Over 700 foreigners have fled Iran, crossing into neighboring Azerbaijan and Armenia, while many more have sought refuge from the conflict.

As the situation intensifies, the U.S. has announced the temporary closure of its embassy in Jerusalem, although no formal plans for evacuating Americans were disclosed amid the growing chaos.

In Tehran, residents are taking precautions, with lines stretching outside bakeries and fuel stations as people stockpile essential supplies. A recent cyberattack has also hindered operations at Sepah Bank, one of Iran’s primary state-owned financial institutions.

As air raid sirens blare across Tel Aviv, some individuals have chosen to take refuge in underground locations, exemplifying the pervasive fear within the population. “We’ve decided to set camp here until it’s all clear,” said Mali Papirany, a 30-year-old civilian observing the unfolding crisis.

The current conflict is rooted in a longstanding rivalry, as Israel intensifies its military actions to impede Iran’s nuclear ambitions—an ambition Iran has repeatedly denied. Reports of explosions in Isfahan, home to nuclear facilities, have raised alarms, prompting comments from the UN’s nuclear watchdog that confirm damage at the Natanz enrichment facility.

Amid this backdrop, French President Emmanuel Macron has emphasized that fostering diplomatic dialogue is crucial to prevent chaos in the region. Meanwhile, China has criticized Trump for exacerbating tensions, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pinpointed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “the biggest threat to the security of the region.”

From Friday to now, the human toll on both sides has been significant, with at least 24 reported fatalities in Israel and an estimated 224 casualties in Iran, including military leaders and civilians.

As the world watches closely, the necessity for diplomatic action becomes more pressing than ever, lest we witness an escalation of a conflict that has already claimed so many.
