What is the first food to eat if you are over 50? Salmon. “Rich in protein and omega-3 to protect muscles and fight inflammation, keep metabolism strong,” says Collingwood.

Leafy Greens, including spinach, kale and collards, is another food that you should not skip. “Low -calorie systems that support muscle function and energy production,” says Collingwood.

Collingwood also recommends nuts and seeds. “Healthy fats, protein and fiber to keep blood sugar stable and prevent fat storage,” she says.

Avocado should also be on your shopping list. “Packed with heart -healthy fats and fiber that helps you keep you satisfied and reduce desires,” says Collingwood.
