President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine announced that the United States has reinstated its military supplies to the country. This development comes as he indicated that his military leaders will collaborate next week with US special envoy Keith Kellogg.

According to Ukrainian media, Mr. Kellogg is scheduled to arrive in Kyiv on Monday for a week-long visit.

Ukraine Launches Drone Attack on Russia

Moscow reported that its air defense systems successfully intercepted 155 Ukrainian drones overnight. This attack follows a series of relentless bombings targeting Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, with tragic repercussions. In a chilling update, local authorities confirmed that the drone strikes resulted in one fatality in the Lipetsk region and another in the western Tula region.

Further escalation occurred as Ukrainian shelling claimed the life of yet another civilian in the border region of Belgorod, according to state officials. Both Kyiv and Moscow have amplified their aerial assaults in recent months, with the Kremlin steadfastly rejecting calls to cease its three-year invasion.

In response to discussions about a potential European peacekeeping force in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserted, “We will not accept any European troops near our border,” reiterating Moscow’s opposition just a day after French President Emmanuel Macron suggested that Kyiv’s allies had “a plan that is ready to go” for implementation immediately following a ceasefire.

During his visit to Rome this week, President Zelensky emphasized the impact of recent attacks, stating that a medical facility was struck overnight in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. He shared the distressing news on social media, noting:

“Among the wounded are women in a maternity hospital—mothers with newborns and women recovering from surgery.” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy

He lamented the dire situation: “Russian strikes on our people. Another atrocity. Fortunately, no children were injured. Russia is targeting life itself— even in the very places where it begins.” Officials confirmed that during the overnight attacks, nine people in Kharkiv sustained injuries.

An AFP journalist captured a moment of distress, observing a woman cradling her newborn in an ambulance during evacuation efforts. The situation worsened when the southern port city of Odesa was hit later that morning, injuring eight individuals, according to local authorities.

In the last week, Moscow’s relentless drone and missile barrages have reached unprecedented levels since the outset of the invasion in February 2022. The United Nations reported that Russia’s intensified attacks have pushed the civilian death toll in Ukraine to a three-year high in June, creating a harrowing context for the ongoing conflict.

Additionally, reports indicate that Russian forces continue to make advances along the front line, which cuts through eastern and southern Ukraine. The Kremlin claimed to have captured another village in the eastern Donetsk region, a territory it had annexed along with three other regions late last year.
