In a dramatic turn at Westminster, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said he will step down less than two years after taking office.
Speaking in a statement outside 10 Downing Street, he said his party had been weighing up “whether I am best placed to lead us into the next general election”.
He added: “I have heard the answer of my parliamentary party to that question, and I accept that answer with good grace.”
