When can Manchester City win the Premier League title?
Manchester City are well on their way to winning the 2020/21 Premier League title, which would be a third in four years for the club and a fifth overall in a decade.
City got off to a difficult start to the season, winning just five of their 13 opening games, while even treading water in the bottom half until the end of November.

But Pep Guardiola’s side finally found their rhythm as the party season approached and a run of 15 wins in a row in the league from just before Christmas to early March drove them from the midfield to an incredible 14 points clear at the top of the table.
City conceded just five goals in those 15 games, with midfielder Ruben Dias claiming to be considered the PFA player of the year after creating an iron-clad partnership with a re-inflated John Stones. Further up the field, Ilkay Gundogan found his scoring boots and has already doubled his best career goal ever in a single league season.
Gabriel Jesus has also scored important goals, while Phil Foden continues to flourish.

As of March’s international break, the gap back to second place Manchester United remains at 14 points, even though City have played one more match.
If United were to win all their remaining matches, the most points they can get is 84. City currently have 71 points, which means they only need 14 more of the 24 available in their eight remaining matches for the title to be mathematically out. reach of nearest rivals.
As it now stands, another five victories would secure the title with three matches left.
This means that City can win the Premier League at home against Chelsea on Sunday 8 May. If United or Leicester, who are only marginally further back in third place, drop points before then and City continue to win, the title’s winning date will emerge and the race will be over even earlier.

With two away games to immediately follow the Chelsea clash on May 8, it would probably mean that City get the trophy on the last day of the season on May 23 at home to Everton.
If City win all eight matches, the highest score they can get is 95. That would match the final sum reached by Chelsea in 2004/05, which was the record record at the time, and would still be as high as the joint fifth on the current timetable.
