West Brom cruise to a 3-0 victory over Southampton
Southampton became humble in their trip to the West Midlands on Monday night, when Callum Robinson covered a masterful West Brom result to secure a 3-0 victory.
The Baggies may have left it too late to avoid relegation but they do not go down without a fight. They hammered Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend and were in a similar destructive mood here.

They thought they had an opener within moments of the kick-off, but Mbaye Diagne was denied a dubious VAR call.
NO GOAL! ❌
West Brom thought they had taken the lead, but Diagne is judged to have been in the offside position …
Even more VAR controversy!

The striker was judged to be offside when he led Darnell Furlong’s misguided effort across the line, but replays showed he was fractionated on the spot. Only teammate Kyle Bartley – who was not involved in the game – was in the offside position.
But Sam Allardyce’s team really did not let their heads down. Half an hour later, Southampton had a plethora of goals, as Matheus Pereira converted a penalty before Diagne picked out Matt Phillips to score his first goal for the Hawthorns in almost four years.
Blowing stuff from Baggies! ⚽⚽
Two goals in a few minutes for West Brom, as Phillips converts a great post from Diagne! ?

Southampton made it a little uncomfortable for the hosts after the break. James Ward-Prowse threatened with a free kick, and Nathan Redmond wanted a penalty after a challenge from Dara O’Shea in the area.
West Brom dug in under pressure from the visitors but their lives became much easier 20 minutes from the time. Somewhat gloomy defense from the Saints allowed Okay Yokuslu to play in Callum Robinson, and the Republic of Ireland striker, who was clinical against Chelsea last time, ended the match.
It should seal it! ?
? ️ “For the first time in his Premier League career, he scored against a side other than Chelsea!”
Clinical finish from Callum Robinson?

It all went to Southampton and the evening was summed up when Conor Townsend put Moussa Djenepo in the box late. Ward-Prowse went up, but Sam Johnstone was equal and made sure his team was clean.
The win moves West Brom to eight safety points, while Southampton drops to 14th, just ten points from the drop zone.
