Vanney shuts down rumors of Gareth Bale transfer

Earlier this summer, reports linking Champions League winner and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale to Major League Soccer giants Los Angeles Galaxy increased.

The timing of the speculation may not be a coincidence when the Major League Soccer’s secondary transfer window started on July 7, and rumors were gathering momentum, it was only a matter of time before Greg Vanney took up the situation.

So that’s exactly what Vanney did during a post – match press conference, and it’s fair to say that the coach did not hold back when asked if he thought the club had been in talks with Bale.

“I think it’s an interesting rumor. For me, there’s nothing in it,” Vanney told the media on Tuesday. “He’s obviously a good player, a great player who has length. And I’m sure a player who probably has some interest in Los Angeles as a destination and a place to be but for us it does not suit the direction we go. with the group.

“And even if he were to help the team, I’m sure that’s just not the direction we’re moving right now.”

This is not the first time rumors have described the player’s possible arrival in California. Comments began to appear in January, during the Primary Transfer Window, that Inter Miami and the LA Galaxy were ready to offer Bale an escape from Madrid.

Both ESPN and MLSsoccer.com reported on the situation before the player’s agent Jonathan Barnett dismissed further speculation, saying it was “very unlikely” that his client would leave Real Madrid.

In addition to confirmations from Vanney and Barnett, Bale would still not be able to join the LA Galaxy due to completed designated player positions. The California team does not have a place open, with Jonathan dos Santos, Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and Kevin Cabral as the team’s three established DPs.

The MLS transfer window will remain open until August 5, where anything but the arrival of Bale could happen.
