Football, fucking hell.

With the footballing world due to the announcement of and Chelsea and Man City’s subsequent withdrawal from the two-day-old Super League, it was revealed that Manchester United’s highly injured CEO Ed Woodward had resigned.

Inevitably, supporters put two and two together and thought that he had thrown in the towel as a result of the Super League debacle, with the proposal on the verge of collapse after the Blues’ and Cityzen’s respective decision to withdraw, and rumors swirled that Man Utd, Tottenham, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid would soon follow.
But conflicting reports suggested that it was not actually related, and that Woodward had intended to leave at the end of the calendar year before his departure was moved forward … seems legitimate.
#MUFC will be able to confirm Woodward’s departure after the market closes in NYC. He was due to resign in December 2021, but this came about due to the likelihood that it would leak out. I am told that it is not related to ESL and he leaves on good terms with the owners

Confusion reigned …
Confirmed. Ed Woodward has resigned as vice chairman of Man Utd. Planned to end in the summer, but the ESL fiasco has made it to the top now

But what was clear was that Woodward was on his way out, and it’s fair to say that not many Manchester United fans were too devastated to see the back of him …
Ed Woodward will be remembered as the common denominator for eight years of largely failure after Ferguson. #mufc has spent £ 941.4 million on Woodward’s watch and has ended five of the last seven seasons trophy-free.

Woodward trying to pretend to resign has nothing to do with ESL hahaha
Damage limitation for his next job. No doubt will put on his resume “I was crucial in uniting the world’s biggest clubs in a new commercial project”. Fraud. Never should have been anywhere near a football club!

Man Utd then officially put some confusion in the bed by releasing a statement confirming that Woodward would leave his role at the end of 2021, although the Super League and its imminent failure were not mentioned.
Club statement.

Thus, a dry season in Man Utd’s history potentially ends, and with the club as second in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjär, it can finally look for their tired fan base.
Fact:
The greatest thing that Ed Woodward ever did as chairman was to appoint Ole Gunnar Sunshine as head. pic.twitter.com/s5lL22QcHc

The fallout from the potential dissolution of the Super League continues rapidly. Who knows whose head will roll?
