As mentioned, last season’s top scorer (and the season before that) Lukaku has left Milan. The club was in great need of cash and when the offer of 97.5 million pounds came from Chelsea, they simply could not say no. For the Belgian, it was a dream come true. For Inter, it was the realization of their worst nightmares.
And so the responsibility for an entire team falls on Lautaro Martinez’s younger shoulders. The Argentine has come into his own in the last two years, flourishing alongside Lukaku and also producing on the international stage and winning the Copa America 2021.
Martinez’s 30 goal contributions were crucial to Inter’s success last season, but there was a sense that allowing him to leave had been far less damaging than Lukaku’s resignation. Now it’s time for El Toro to prove that he can carry the weight of the city on his shoulders and step up to become number one forward in Milan.

Inter may have added Edin Dzeko to their front line, but in Lukaku’s absence, the team may have short goals. One man who has assured Nerazzurri fans of their ability to find the net is 20-year-old Martin Satriano.
Starlet scored 14 goals for the youth team last season, and he has seen some impressive performances during the pre-season. Martinez will miss the season-opening match due to suspension, while Alexis Sanchez will not be available after injury.
It opens the door for Satriano to claim himself in this team. Can he force himself into Inzaghi’s thinking? We’ll find out.

It is rare that a positive season can be born from the depths of such a miserable summer with exits and pessimism. Inter are the defending champions, but they are not a favorite to lift the trophy this season.
In fact, AS Roma will be strengthened during the summer, Juventus under the leadership of Massimiliano Allegri once again and top four specialist Luciano Spalletti will take over at SSC Napoli, in Nerazzurri’s Champions League qualification threatened.
We would not be too surprised if they slipped out of the top four, but we give them the benefit of the doubt of not completely falling off a cliff this year. Still, stick to these memories, Inter fans, because this year can prove to be extremely challenging.
