Things to know about the Manchester United kid

It’s not easy growing up to be a professional footballer when your dad himself was a pretty successful Premier League player, as Charlie Savage is about to find out.

The Manchester United kid is currently a member of the squad during the 18th century and has just signed his first professional contract with the Red Devils.

So who is Savage? Here are the things you need to know about him.

So proud of @ charliesavage48 who started as the 1st researcher at the biggest club in the world ?? commitment, desire and sacrifice to get to this point! Now the hard work begins ?? pic.twitter.com/tcbYVmwWxU

The last name is a bit of a giveaway, but Charlie is the son of former Leicester and Derby midfielder Robbie Savage.

Robbie was part of the famous ’92 class and won the youth club with David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers before being released and joining Crewe Alexandra.

Like his father, Savage is a central midfielder who sits in the middle of the pitch and breaks up the game. He loves a good tackle and has the energy to run box-to-box, chip in with two goals and four assists so far this season for under 18s.

Savage was born in Leicester during his father’s time playing there, but has chosen to represent Wales internationally.

He made his debut for Under 17s back in September 2019 and played five times that year for them but has not yet made the step up to the level above.

As part of the first-year researchers in 2018, Savage traveled with United’s youth team to Hong Kong to participate in the Jockey Club Youth Football Academy Summit.

United competed in a mini-tournament with some local teams and won, with Savage starting each game. They beat HK Academy 6-1 in their first game, HK all-stars 2-1 in the semifinals before beating Guandong Under-17s 3-0 in the final.

While he did not make the cut for FIFA 21 or PES 2021 this year, Savage will join FM 2021. He has received a potential rating of three stars, which means that they have tipped him to become a pretty decent player.

His distinguishing attributes are his technical, fitness and passing statistics, which sum up his all-round play quite well.
