The Tottenham Hotspur line-up that should start against Newcastle
Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur return to action on Sunday afternoon as they continue their pressure for a top four spot in the Premier League with a trip to St. Petersburg. James’ Park.
Newcastle desperately need victories to avoid a bottom three, and sit just two points above 18th-placed Fulham. The Magpies are winless in six Premier League matches and suffered a potentially fatal 3-0 defeat against Brighton last time.
The international break was welcome for Spurs as they followed a derby defeat to Arsenal with one of the most shocking European outings of all time – losing 3-0 to Dinamo Zagreb after entering the match with an overall 2-0 lead. However, Mourinho’s men beat Aston Villa 2-0 last time, using a new system to claim a solid win with Harry Kane and Carlos Vinicius both scoring goals.
So, to continue to win roads and their pressure for the top four, here’s the lineup that will start for Tottenham in Newcastle.
Hugo Lloris (GK) – The skipper returns from international service in fine form after impressing France last week. Serge Aurier (RB) – With Matt Doherty in doubt about injury, Aurier should start at right-back on Sunday.
Dsvinson Sanchez (CB) – Started the Spurs last seven games and has made some good shifts in the last couple of months. Deserves to start again.
Joe Rodon (CB) – Shown how well he can have international service with Wales, and with Eric Dier’s taste for a temporary accident, he should start for Spurs on Sunday.Sergio Reguilon (LB) – Mourinho confirmed the Spaniard’s return from injury recently, so he should be in line to give his usual power down to the left against Newcastle.

Lucas Moura (RM) – Was excellent against Villa last time and took an assist. Has earned his place in start XI.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (CM) – No Premier League player has made more tackles than his 79 this season. Decisive in the Spurs midfield.Tanguy Ndombele (CM) – Not the most exciting international break with France, but he should be fresh enough to start with Hojbjerg for Mourinho.
Son Heung-min (LM) – Back from injury and back in start XI. Has really been missed in Spurs’ latest game but will record again to make a real threat from the left.

Carlos Vinicius (ST) – The two tops worked well last time, so the Brazilian can be in line for a new start. He scored his tenth Tottenham goal against Villa and hopes to build on a shaky Newcastle defense. Harry Kane (ST) – Will be the more creative of the two, who have already made ridiculous 13 assists to go with their 17 goals this season. There’s just no way he’s not starting.
