Barcelona are back on Monday night when they host Real Valladolid in La Liga.

Their visitors are in an uncertain position right now and sit 16th in the table and above the fall zone with only three points. However, Ronaldo-owned Valladolid have not lost in four and even managed a point against Sevilla last time.

La Blaugrana are of course clear favorites. Despite some rocky Champions League appearances, Ronald Koeman’s side has been one of Europe’s most formal clubs since December. Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 18 league matches and won 15 and have received an unexpected title fee after a boring start to Koeman’s time. A sensational 6-1 away win over Real Sociedad last time left them four points behind Atletico Madrid at the summit.

So, to keep putting pressure on Atleti, here’s the Barcelona program starting on Monday night.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen (GK) – Has been phenomenal in recent months and saved his back line on many occasions – a key start.Oscar Mingueza (CB) – Has really grown to start XI this campaign. Seems to have been tailored for the right side of a back three, so should start on Monday.

Frenkie de Jong (CB) – When he is given freedom, he can use this role to completely dictate games and against Valladolid he is expected to do just that.

Clement Lenglet (CB) – Generally a reliable defender for La Blaugrana, and will be exactly what his side need when controlling possession – he will keep a high line and spread the game nicely.

Sergino Dest (RM) – Returning to Spain after making an absolute corker for the USA against Jamaica, so it should be darling to go in the wing-back role.Sergio Busquets (CM) – Continues to play a key role at the base of Barca midfield. Has played 38 times for the page already this campaign.

Pedri (CM) – Hard to believe this guy is only 18 still. He’s clearly into starting XI now and can really influence the procedures with his energetic, creative style that seems to work perfectly with Lionel Messi.

Jordi Alba (LM) – Another member of the old guard who is still going strong and has seven La Liga goal contributions to show for this season.

Lionel Messi (RW) – Has been the driving force behind Barca’s impressive comeback. 23 goals and 10 assists in 26 La Liga matches make his importance quite clear.

Ousmane Dembele (ST) – Managed to set a goal for France during the break, but must take it in his club form. His upward movement is exceptional, just needs to be more clinical.

Antoine Griezmann (LW) – Like his teammates, he will not stick to the wide position and will float freely around. Has been crucial to a lot of Barca’s good work this season and finally seems to really enjoy his football.
