Scott Parker leaves Fulham and joins Bournemouth

Scott Parker has left Fulham with mutual consent and become the new boss of Bournemouth on a three-year contract.

The 40-year-old had been in charge at Craven Cottage since February 2019 when he originally became head of security after Claudio Ranieri’s resignation. His arrival did not come in time to save Fulham from relegation to the Championship.

Although he entered the 2019/20 seasons as one of the favorites for automatic promotion, Parker’s side fought for most of the season and worked their way to a playoff spot after restarting in the summer of 2020. They beat West rivals Brentford in the playoffs. to relieve the pressure on him.

Fulham sometimes played decent football when they returned to the top flight, but ultimately could not do enough to fight an immediate relegation back to the championship, and Parker’s future was once again in the air.

Cottage chairman Shahid Khan said in a statement: “Scott has always had my support as our head coach through promotion and relegation. Scott’s departure, however, does nothing for me. We will hire a new head coach who can achieve our marketing goal and will be committed to Fulham and its supporters. And we will put together a group that will respond, compete and win. Forward.”

Parker is now joining Bournemouth following the expiry of Jonathan Woodgate’s contract. The Cherries finished sixth in the 2020/21 season and failed where Parker succeeded and lost to Brentford in the playoffs.

“I think this is a perfect fit for both parties,” Parker told Bournemouth’s website.

“I know Bournemouth because of my relationship with Harry Arter [his brother-in-law]. It’s a football club I know well from watching him over the years.

“Ethos, reputation, the journey and the challenge here is something that is very exciting for me and my staff.

We want to build a team the fans can be proud of and one that they think represents them. We can not wait to get started. ”
