Robertson urges Scotland to build on a draw with England

Scotland captain Andy Robertson has gathered his side ahead of his last group game against Croatia and has told them to make sure their points against England do not count for nothing.

Steve Clarke’s side produced a brilliant performance to keep the Three Lions in check on Friday night when they got their first point of the tournament.

The Scots could easily have taken all three points if it were not for a deviating finish, and Robertson has claimed that England could have had no complaints if Scotland had won the game and that his side must build on the points.

“I thought we were the better team,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live (via BBC Sport). “Another night we could have won it and I don’t think anyone can really argue with that.

“The feeling we have now, the feeling that the fans have, it’s important that we keep it and it’s not for nothing. We take it down to the last match and that’s all we ask. We have to use it to get out of the group. . “

While the entire team in Scotland performed admirably at Wembley, one man in particular stood out Motherwell’s Stephen O’Donnell.

The right-back endured a nightmare start at Euro 2020 after his shocking display against the Czech Republic in Scotland’s opener, but he bounced back in style against England and has praised Clarke for continuing to show faith in his ability.

“The only point I need to prove is for the boss,” he said. “Over and over again, he questions me and holds on to me. It’s a great feeling to have when a boss trusts me and hopefully I paid it back.”

Scotland face Croatia on Tuesday at Hampden Park and know they need to win if they are to have any chance of advancing from Group D.
