Robert Lewandowski ruled out for four weeks with a knee injury

Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out for about four weeks after straining his knee, which means he will miss both legs in Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter-final against Paris-Saint Germain.

The best striker in the world picked up the injury while on international duty with Poland. After netting two of his side goals in a 3-0 victory over Andorra, Lewandowski was forced off the hour mark after a collision.

After the match, he flew back to Germany prematurely, which means that he will be absent for Poland’s last World Cup qualifier in the international break against England. Scans by Bayern’s medical team have since revealed that Lewandowski will also miss Die Roten’s upcoming European clash with PSG.

Bayern announced the news via a statement on their website, which reads: “Robert Lewandowski has tightened a ligament in his right knee. The Bayern striker will be out for about four weeks. After Poland’s 3-0 victory against Andorra, Lewandowski returned to Munich early , where a diagnosis was made by the medical team of the German record champions. “

The news will be a significant blow to Bayern’s chances of retaining the Champions League trophy. Lewandowski has been in superhuman form in recent years and it has not been any different this season. Poland have already scored 42 goals in 36 games this semester and last season he managed a ridiculous 55 in 47 games.

Lewandowski has only missed three matches in all competitions during the 2020/21 campaign, so it is not clear how Hansi Flick will put up in his absence. In all the matches he did not start, Eric Choupo-Moting – who signed for PSG in the summer – was called in, but other options include playing Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry or Leroy Sane as a central striker.
