Mbappe Opts Against Surgery Following Nasal Fracture in Victory Over Austria

Kylian Mbappe’s European Championship debut didn’t go as planned, exiting France’s first match due to injury.
The French star suffered a broken nose during Monday’s clash with Austria but fortunately won’t need surgery.
France eked out a 1-0 win against Ralf Rangnick’s crew, thanks to an own goal by Max Wober from Mbappe’s delivery.
In an aerial tussle, Mbappe’s face met Kevin Danso’s shoulder, necessitating prolonged medical attention before he withdrew in the closing moments.
On Tuesday, the French Football Federation disclosed Mbappe’s nasal fracture and his need for a protective mask for the tournament’s duration, though his play status against the Netherlands on Friday remains uncertain.
“He has returned to the French squad’s home base,” confirmed the FFF.
“Treatment will proceed in the following days, sans immediate surgery.”
On X, Mbappe quipped about his predicament, asking followers: “Any ideas for masks?”
Despite his prolific record of 47 goals in 80 games for France, the 25-year-old has yet to score in this Euro tournament after 18 attempts, contrasted with his 12 World Cup goals from 39 shots.
