Man City are still hoping for Kane to sign

Manchester City have not given up on Harry Kane and will continue to pressure Tottenham Hotspur to sell their valuable asset before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

The Spurs have refused all of City’s approaches so far this summer for the England captain, and they had hoped that their relentless attitude had made it clear to the Premier League champions that Kane would not be allowed to move.

But 90min understands that City fully intend to make further offers to Tottenham boss Daniel Levy in the hope that he could be persuaded to sell during the last week of the window.

City are expected to push their current offer to £ 130 million, but sources close to the club believe they will go to £ 150 million to try to get the deal done. It remains to be seen if it will matter to Levy, and sources close to Tottenham do not see him giving up – and do not think he will even consider an offer.

Kane has yet to play for Spurs this season and returned to training late after his Euro 2020 achievements with England. He has recently returned to training and new manager Nuno Espirito Santo is considering whether to use Kane against the former club Wolves this weekend.

While Tottenham insist they are not currently looking for a replacement, they have spoken to other forwards – who they have insisted they would like to play with Kane.

Spurs have spoken to Fiorentina about Dusan Vlahovic, who has accidentally been linked with Man City as an option if they fail to sign Kane this month – although it could be difficult to beat Atletico Madrid against the Serbian striker.

Another player they have shown a strong interest in is Lautaro Martinez and Spurs took an approach to Inter over the Argentine, who declined. Inter are now negotiating with the player for a new contract following the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

As for Kane, the ball is now very much in City’s camp. But it is expected that a new offer will be made in the coming days.
