Lucas Torreira has revealed that he does not intend to return to Arsenal after the end of his loan transfer to Atletico Madrid and instead wants to move to Boca Juniors.
Uruguayan participated in a candid interview in which he discussed his mother’s recent death due to coronavirus.
The 25-year-old received a special exemption from Atletico to fly home after the news and he has now confirmed that he does not intend to play in Europe after the end of this season, with a transfer to Boca Juniors as his favorite move.

“I always said I wanted to play in Boca,” he said, according to Marca. “I die to play in Boca and I will always say that. Not just for my moment. But it’s now, it’s June and I’ve always wanted to play in Boca. I die to play in Boca.
“The night my mother died and one of the first to receive the news was my representative. I do not want to play in Europe anymore, I want to play in Boca.”
Although he apparently did not want to extend his stay at Atleti, Torreira was full of praise for the La Liga kit where he currently plays on loan from Arsenal, and he applauded manager Diego Simeone for showing compassion in the decision to let him fly home.
“I applied for a license at the Atlético de Madrid, Cholo [Diego Simeone] understood everything and they gave me a week, but I asked to stay a little longer, “he added. On Sunday I will probably travel. I have to do my duty and life has to go on. Atlético was very good to me and that is important. “

Torreira went on to add that his decision to move back to South America was also partly driven by football. Uruguay’s international declared that he has not had his football for almost two years and that he now wants to leave Europe for good.
“It has been two years since I personally felt good, without continuity, Arsenal injured me and in Atletico I do not play the way I want,” he said.
