Liverpool News: Andrew Robertson injury update

Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson already appears to be back in light training after an ankle injury suffered during the pre-season earlier this month.

The injury, which was later confirmed to be a ligament injury, was written off by Robertson from Liverpool’s first weekend in the win against Norwich and was expected to cast doubt on the club’s remaining two games in August until the September break in September.

But Robertson has shared a picture of himself driving back on the training ground just over a week after the injury occurred during a friendly match against Athletic Bilbao at Anfield on August 8.

The possibility increases that the Scottish player may be involved when Liverpool host Burnley in their next Premier League match on Saturday lunchtime. Liverpool’s next match before the international break will visit Chelsea Anfield on 28 August.

Greece’s international Kostas Tsimikas, who was signed for £ 11.75m from Olympiacos last summer to cover Robertson, set up for the 3-0 win over Norwich.

Such was Robertson’s relentless condition last season, as was the Greeks’ only injury, Tsimikas made just seven appearances in all competitions during the 2020/21 campaign, including just six minutes of Premier League action spread over two commas as replacements.

He played a full 90 minutes at Carrow Road this weekend, but his run in the team is now expected to decrease significantly shorter than first thought.
