The United States will face Jamaica on Sunday at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas for the quarterfinals of the 2021 Gold Cup.
USMNT sailed through the group stage as Group B leader, but head coach Gregg Berhalter was not impressed. Although Major League football players such as Gianluca Busio and Daryl Dike showed their capacity and potential, Berhalter expected more of his senior team to enter the tournament after lifting the Nations League trophy.
Jamaica, on the other hand, won against Guadalupe and Suriname before fighting in their first true challenge in the Gold Cup against Costa Rica. The Caribbean nation has an advantage over the United States after advancing to the next round without major injuries and thus a perfectly suitable squad for the match on Sunday.

The US men’s national team came out of the group stage after a 1-0 victory over North American rival Canada and won the lead with a record goal by Shaq Moore 20 seconds into the match.
Despite victories in the tournament’s first matches, few players have impressed coach Berhalter and shown a special capacity. Gianluca Busio and Daryl Dike are currently the two to watch out for when the young MLS players try to get international attention.
The American side suffered several injuries during the tournament’s group game, but most recently lost Walker Zimmerman to a hoarding load for the entire Gold Cup. New England Revolution defender Henry Kessler and San Jose Earthquakes forward Cade Cowell will join the team to replace the injured.

They can enter the game against the United States as underdogs, but Reggae Boyz should not be underestimated. The Jamaican national team crossed through the first two matches of the group stage and defeated Suriname and Guadalupe before fighting Costa Rica.
The Jamaican side reports no new injuries and should have a suitable squad to face the United States on Sunday.

USA dominates against Jamaica when Reggae Boyz wants revenge for a 3-1 defeat in the semifinals of the Gold Cup 2019. The Caribbean nation has not yet defeated the American side and lost again in 2017 after USMNT player Jordan Morris made an 89-minute winner for to seal the match 2-1. Their extensive Gold Cup history dates back to 2005 and 2011, when the United States defeated Jamaica both times in the quarterfinals.
This is not expected to be a game with few goals. Although the United States is expected to score, Jamaica will also try to be on the attack rather than retreat to take a defensive position early.
