Gareth Bale takes Jose Mourinho lightly
Gareth Bale admitted that Tottenham were happier to play on the front foot during their 2-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday night.
The Welshman was key to the victory over the Saints as his fantastic left-footed effort leveled the score before fellow Son Heung-min made it 2-1 with just a few minutes left, giving interim manager Ryan Mason a win in his first game fee.

Bale’s relationship with former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho seemed unpleasant from the start, as the Real Madrid loanee gave only six Premier League starts to the Portuguese tactician, and he seemed to take a thinly veiled dig at his former boss when asked how he felt that the team could be improved after Mourinho’s departure.
“Just to be on my toes a little more,” he replied when asked about possible improvements from Sky Sports (via the Daily Mail). “We want to attack, we are a great team, we have fantastic players.”
Spurs were in pain at half time during their clash with the Saints, after 1-0 after Danny Ing’s fantastic header.
The Wales international was asked about his side’s comeback at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and while his answer was short, he was full of praise for the new boss Mason.
“Very good team talk at half time,” he said. “Came out, second half, and played really well.”
After Tottenham withdrew from the Super League on Tuesday night, Bale was also asked to comment on the club’s part in the erupting competition saga, although he refused to be drawn into the subject.

“As players, we have all focused on trying to get the new boss to settle down,” he added. “For me, the issue is closed – it does not happen – and we continue as usual.”
