Fantasy Premier League: 2020/21 top scorer

With the 2021/22 season on the horizon, it’s not just the pre-season for footballers that is coming immediately.

For fantasy football players, the summer represents a tireless reflection, scouting and recruitment for the new season to get a better score and stop securing the right to brag.

New players will of course join the Premier League, but it is important to keep an eye on who got the most points in 2020/21 to avoid the risk of spending big money on unknown quantities. 90min has picked out the 30 best score scores, just for you.

The Manchester City midfielder lit up the league with a pass catalog.

But the injury limited him to 25 games and while six goals and 12 assists is a good move, City’s side relies on a team of excellence. Hard for him to draw points in such a well-built page, but a sure cry.

Firmino can improve / Sebastian Frej / MB Media / Getty Images

A player who suffered during a difficult season for Liverpool, Roberto Firmino, was never without critics but still managed to collect nine goals and seven assists.

He’s mercury. When Liverpool are good, he is often the center of it. But when they are bad, he is invisible. Inconsistent but explosive at its best.

It cost just £ 5.7 million to grab Ruben Dias during his debut season. Expect it to increase in 2021/22.

The Portuguese midfielder was a rock when City won the league and impressed massively. Tackles, positions and passes, he has everything. He is a good candidate to consider next season, if you are willing to splash out.

Wan-Bissaka’s tackles give points / Laurence Griffiths / Getty Images

All the last ditches, late sliding tackles pay dividends in the FPL, even though they leave Manchester United fans on the run and sometimes furious.

Wan-Bissaka has a lot to work with, but his attacking play has improved and he must continue to sharpen if he wants to keep his place at United. Next season could be a breakout in FPL; monitor this surface.

The Pope is the man for FPL heads / Gareth Copley / Getty Images

Burnley’s shot stopper is always a good goalkeeper option for easy points.

The Pope has proven his abilities and would probably have had a crack at being England number one for Euro 2020 if it were not for injury. Burnley will not compromise on their style of play, so expect a similar atmosphere as this 2021/22.

Mahrez had a great season / Chloe Knott – Danehouse / Getty Images

Mahrez unlocked a new level for his game last season, which fans have been expecting since he moved to Manchester 2018.

It is difficult to predict whether next season will see him make that form of continued excellence, or whether 2020/21 was the peak of his strength. However, he is always good for a top union.

Soucek has been a hit in England / Shaun Botterill / Getty Images

When he was not relaxing with his finest potato salad, Soucek played the role of Fellaini for David Moyes and fired West Ham in the Europa League.

Soucek has been a hit in the Premier League and his physical style will surely be an asset for Hammarna on the way to 2021/22. Scruffy goals galore, he is affordable and a quiet solid asset.

Mount will continue to shine for Chelsea / Shaun Botterill / Getty Images

No, Frank Lampard will not be at Chelsea and yes, Mason Mount will still be very good at football.

A modest six goals and six assists for the 22-year-old last season does not tell the story of his importance to Chelsea’s starting XI. Mount is not perfect and costs £ 7.5 million, but he will look good.

Hugo Lloris collected lots of FPL points / James Williamson – AMA / Getty Images

Life under Jose Mourinho meant that Tottenham started with a much more emphasis on defense compared to what they were used to.

Not only did it mean they won the “Won the League in November” Cup, but it also meant that Lloris was a busy man in goal. It will be interesting to see how he and Spurs do next season given the uncertainty surrounding the club.

A solid to think about / Visionhaus / Getty Images

There is a bargain to be had in Cresswell 2021/22.

Ideally as an affordable / budget XI option, the Englishman will get a fair share of the games at West Ham and come forward enough to score again.

Sterling always puts up the numbers / Chloe Knott – Danehouse / Getty Images

Despite the seemingly endless scrutiny, Sterling is always good for a goal.

His role in the Manchester City approach helps, with his best stuff coming from instinct around the goal. 18 goal grants is a good return and you can count on him ending up in 2021/22, even though he is barely cheap at 11 million pounds.

Meslier’s debut season in the Premier League was promising / Robbie Jay Barratt – AMA / Getty Images

Some mistakes in his debut season can be expected, but Meslier’s debut Premier League campaign was otherwise seriously impressive.

The 21-year-old saved Leeds more points than he cost and has all the attributes to develop into a good example of the modern goalkeeper. During his second peak flight season, expect a much more commanding and less misguided Meslier. A solid budget option.

Set. Pieces.

Corner, free kick, goal kick. Get Ward-Prowse in. He will surely be good sometime during the season. It’s like WWE keeps Brock Lesnar on the book to roll him out a few times a year; we know what’s coming but we’ll postpone it.

Gundogan knocked out City / Michael Steele / Getty Images

It’s Mr. Whippy for you.

Gundogan went up for Manchester City in a difficult season for everyone and found a consistent vein of productive and proactive form from the depths. The desired system means that he is likely to repeat the pattern, but not to the same standards. Buy but with caution.

FPL legend / Pool / Getty Images

Harrison was perfect for Leeds last season and is a god among regular FPL players.

Super affordable and a shoo-in for points. Provides power and energy in the Leeds system and is rewarded with goal contributions for their efforts. He’s a find to wait for.

Ederson finished with Golden Glove / Michael Regan / Getty Images

Ederson will by no means be cheap, but you know what you’re getting. Approximately.

Part of the Brazilian’s charm is his fearless and eccentric style. You can trust him for big savings and clean sheets – and maybe occasional help – but proceed with caution if he makes a fool of himself.

Trent is coming back / Michael Regan / Getty Images

Alexander-Arnold was probably the biggest sufferer during a bad season for Liverpool.

But put it together in the end and there is no way the Reds will not tap into his abilities with the ball at his feet next season. Whether it’s changing games, opening the pitch or putting it on a plate in the box, he’ll be fine.

Robertson is a safe pair of hands / Sebastian Frej / MB Media / Getty Images

While Alexander-Arnold was fighting, his left-wing man managed to hold it together.

Robertson was a consistent head for Liverpool and his points reflect his efforts during a struggling season. A good job and a good choice for someone if you have the budget to allow it.

Calvert-Lewin Enjoyed A Productive Campaign / Alex Pantling / Getty Images

More like Dominic Calvert-Lewindowski. Original.

The Everton striker blew up under Carlo Ancelotti’s guidance. And while his goal swung towards the end of the campaign, he will lead the line again in 2021/22 and have time to tune the band again. A proper penalty player.

Watkins impressed for Villa / Richard Heathcote / Getty Images

A re-inflated Aston Villa took a brilliant step to bring Watkins up to the Premier League. The forward enjoyed the big stage.

Watkins still has work to do to raise his numbers and be more clinical, but when Emiliano Buendia and Jack Grealish – if no one were to cough up the funds for him – deliver, he will not be without chances and goals again next season.

A smart FPL purchase / Robbie Jay Barratt – AMA / Getty Images

Still not sure where Dallas is actually supposed to play.

Leeds’ toolmaker is a practical choice for all FPL teams and proved it last season. He was relentless in Marcelo Bielsa’s side and could always be trusted. A consistent and easily accessible choice on a budget.

Rashford sometimes played injured / Pool / Getty Images

Injuries and inconsistencies limited what could have been a fantastic campaign for Rashford.

A bag of tricks with a pace, Rashford’s distribution improved enormously in 2020/21. While his work in front of goal still needs more consistency, no one can deny his importance to Manchester United.

Mane did high in FPL / Gareth Copley / Getty Images

During what was considered a terrible season, Mane still managed 11 goals and eight assists in the Premier League.

The scary part is that he was under par last season. There is much more in the tank and then some think he has a point to prove. Expect a resurgence.

Martinez was a coup / Pool / Getty Images

A strong transfer window and season for Aston Villa was summed up by Arsenal’s number two signing.

Martinez has been a revelation in the Midlands and sees a sure thing in the Premier League now he has been given a chance. Wonder save after wonder save last season saw him collect some serious points.

The Vardy party continues / Visionhaus / Getty Images

Everyone continues to expect the inevitable Vardy to be released to strike, but he simply does not allow it.

A now veteran Vardy often became a creator last season and added a new dimension to his game. Not a cheap FPL option by any means, but he will probably be good again in 2021/22.

Bamford finally shone in the Premier League / Pool / Getty Images

Bamford scored 17 Premier League goals in one season is something neither of us saw happen at any time.

But unfortunately he did and he looked as if he had finally found his track for Leeds last season. Bamford is another that is perfect in Bielsa’s system and it feels like the secret is out now.

Baller / Shaun Botterill / Getty Images

Son is far too talented and exciting a football player to be in a Jose Mourinho team.

The South Korean striker is incredibly rounded and his FPL points last season reflected that. He is guaranteed to score goals and his creative brain can always pick out teammates in important areas on the pitch. Vital for Spurs.

Salah is inevitable / Alex Livesey / Getty Images

It’s scary to think about where Liverpool would have been without Salah’s 27 goalscorers last season.

Sink or swim, Salah is always good for a goal. He is a constant threat in the opposition half and shows no signs of letting go. Liverpool had their rest last season, and in a tweaked side with incentives to go again, he could get even better.

Kane thundered out for Spurs – maybe a little too much / Pool / Getty Images

Kane taking even greater influence on Spurs last season is a bittersweet for the club’s fans.

Kane showed his references with 23 goals and 14 assists, turned into a goal scorer and creator in an audition for the big stage and a move away from the club. If he stays in the Premier League, he’s worth every penny of your budget. Get him.

Bruno Fernande’s tops a lot – obviously / Pool / Getty Images

Who else?

Punishes this, big games that – bored out. Fernande’s significance for United is unmatched and his continuously freakish goal contribution figures and playing time statistics say it all. Get him there, no matter the cost.
