Chelsea broadcasts news: Bayern abandon Hudson-Odoi chase

Bayern Munich have decided not to continue a move for Callum Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea this summer.

A long-term goal for the German side, Hudson-Odoi’s future, is once again in the air after fighting to make a big impact under the new boss Thomas Tuchel. He started just seven of the 19 league games under Tuchel, four of which came in the first five games.

A move away from Stamford Bridge, either permanent or on loan, has been rumored, and it was recently revealed that Bayern were keen to resume their interest in a player they were trying to sign for £ 35 million in January 2019.

Well, the same source who first mentioned Bayern’s new interest, Constantin Eckner, has now ended the joke by saying that Bayern have decided not to make a move for the 20-year-old due to his high salaries.

After stumbling on Bayern’s progress, Chelsea tied Hudson-Odoi to a new contract worth over £ 100,000 a week (some reports suggest he will take home twice as much) and the German side are not interested in matching it.

A potential move to Germany may still be in the offing for Hudson-Odoi. Borussia Dortmund are sniffing around as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho, who is likely to join Manchester United in the coming weeks, but Ruhr Nachrichten believes another Englishman could get the nod, PSV Eindhoven’s Noni Madueke.

That leaves Hudson-Odoi in purgatory this summer. He is struggling to convince Tuchel of his value to the team, and there have been conflicting reports about how he feels. Some think he is happy to stay and fight, while others feel he is ready to move on.

If he stays, Tuchel will have to decide in what position he sees Hudson-Odoi’s future. Originally billed as a right-back, the 20-year-old lost that spot to Reece James and is unlikely to win it back, with Tuchel looking at new signings in that role.

Inter Achraf Hakimi was a big goal but is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain and leaves Chelsea to consider reserve goals such as Wolves’ Adama Traore or Gladbach’s Jonas Hofmann.

There is also academy star Valentino Livramento vying for that spot in the squad, while reports suggest that Tuchel also likes the 21-year-old Dujon Sterling.
