For two weeks, suspected jihadists have imposed a blockade on the inhabitants of a village in the Ségou region, Farabougou. At least five civilians from the village were killed as they tried to reach a nearby locality. Since Saturday, October 17, the situation has become more complicated: a bridge leading to the village has been revitalized.

as reported from Bamako, Serge Daniel

Since almost two weeks, Farabougou, an ancient Malian village created by hunters, is isolated from the world. Impossible to get in and the people are the monastery at home. Suspected jihadists get their law to rule and over the weekend, they even revitalized the small village bridge.

Moussa Samaké of the Association of Nations of Farabougou explains the importance of the destroyed structure: “This is where we sent humanitarian aid to be closer to Farabougou. So this bridge that made it possible to do so has just been blown up. We are even further back from Farabougou with almost 15 kilometers. So that’s the purpose of the bridge. ”

Then he is concerned about the people of Farabougou: “The situation in the village is dramatic. At the moment, people have eaten what they have and there has been no help from that day until today. ”

A division of the Malian army was on its way to the village. “The army is in Djawali, 15 kilometers away. They went back to Djawali, ”said Moussa Samaké of the Association of Nationals of Farabougou. Sunday night, suspected jihadists threatened to attack the village, not far from which shots were heard.
