Patrice Talon promises to limit himself to two terms
Elected on April 11, the President of Benin promises to resign in 2026 at the end of his current term. Patrice Talon made this commitment to several African civil society organizations, such as Togo Debout and Tournons la page, this Saturday 10 July.
“The terms of office should be limited,” said Patrice Talon. When you weigh up – the pros and cons – it’s obvious. Restriction of the conditions is in all respects for the benefit of the people, rather than leaving both in office forever. You have every right to advocate work studies. I fully care about it and I promise you to defend it, to witness it. ”
The President of Benin chose the place and the moment to make this promise: during the citizens’ summit for democracy, good governance and change. Understand: the limitation of the mandates of the Heads of State of the ECOWAS countries. On Saturday morning, Patrice Talon performed during the work and promised not to break the lock in Benin’s constitution, which limits the number of five-year periods to two.
