“Ibrahim 10” without remorse at the helm

In Mali, October 28 was the second day of the trial against the alleged perpetrators of the Bamako attacks in 2015, which killed 30 people, at the Terrace bar restaurant and at the Radisson Blu hotel. This new day opened with the hearings of the two defendants. The main suspect, the Mauritanian Fawaz Ould Ahmed, aka “Ibrahim 10”, who for almost two hours detailed the operations he performed, showed no remorse.

At the stand, Fawaz Ould Ahmed, surrounded by his two lawyers in front of the anti-terrorism assistants, had most of the time his hands squeezing behind his back. “I am a jihadist mujahideen,” he proclaimed in court before confirming that he was a member of Al-Mourabitoune, a jihadist group affiliated with al-Qaeda.

So very quickly, in response to questions from the president of the court, he told the facts of the restaurant Terrace, which he is accused of having committed. He said he came out of Gao with a Kalashnikov and six magazines, a gun and two magazines. After watching, he goes to the restaurant and then targets Westerners. The death toll will be 30, including three malaria.

The hearing continued on his run and his preparation for the Radisson Blu bombing in Bamako. His story was punctured in the room with moans and embarrassed laughter as the accused was without remorse and the actions described were performed in cold blood.

When a judge was asked about the reasons for his actions, he replied: “We are at war with France and its allies”. For the attack on La Terrasse, Mokhtar Belmokhtar would have given him the green light to avenge the Prophet in response to the publication of the Charlie Hebdo cartoons.
