Former opponent Hassan Fadoul Kitir is back

It is the end of a long exile for Hassan Fadoul Kitir. This close friend of the late President Idriss Deby Itno, a refugee in Togo for two decades, returned to the country as part of the overstretched military policy of the Transitional Military Council that has ruled the country since April.

The information had already been running on social networks for a few days. It is finally a tweet from the presidency announcing an audience of Hassan Fadoul Kitir who formalized his return to the country. The former opponent returned to Chad after 21 years in exile in West Africa.

This little-known politician of the new generation was in the early 1990s one of the gray appearances in the Deby system. He even got the nickname “enfant terrible” within the political landerneau because of his ability to establish political coups.

In the early 2000s, his relationship with Idriss Déby deteriorated after the so-called Barsein’s fake dinars, in which he was accused of playing a central role. He will then take the path of exile and support the armed opposition.

In recent times, his words have been scarce. His return comes thanks to an appeal launched for Idriss Deby’s death by the Transitional Military Council, led by Mahamat Idriss Déby, in which he invited opponents in exile to return to the country, with a view to a dialogue for national reconciliation.
