civil society condemns the violence from
In Côte d’Ivoire, the violence of PDCI activists against journalists, especially the RFI correspondent at a press conference by the Minister for National Reconciliation, Kouadio Konan Bertin and the party leadership, called on the organizations to respond.
The activists were angry at the ex-figure of their movement since KKB joined the government of Alassane Ouattara. But in the turmoil, several journalists, including RFI, were insulted by the militants, their equipment damaged. The Ivorian human rights movement condemns this violence, especially a few days after Laurent Gbagbo’s return.
“We were shocked, shocked and at the same time surprised by these events that took place at the PDCI – RDA headquarters, because they were invited journalists, just to cover an event and report to the public. We condemn this with the greatest possible energy because violence must not be perpetrated in the Ivory Coast with everything we have experienced here in this country as violence after the election and others, says Drissa Bamba from Rights Movement.
“We have stated that we are concerned that this situation will arise when we announce President Laurent Gbagbo and his followers. “If the reconciliation minister who goes to the headquarters of a political party can have such aggression, but what will happen when it comes to welcoming President Laurent Gbagbo to the Ivory Coast?”
Former Ivorian president acquitted of crimes against humanity by International Criminal Court should return to Côte d’Ivoire on 17 June announced his party a week ago.
