It helps alleviate congestion in the metropolitan areas. “In all districts, you have stations with transport companies that go in different directions and that obstruct traffic and congest the districts,” explains Armand Pierre Beouindé, the mayor of Ouagadougou. This is what we want to resume, with these projects to install formal, modern stations. There will be boarding platforms for small buses and platforms for large buses. From street lighting to building lighting and air conditioning, everything is powered by solar energy. ”
At a cost of approximately 4.362 million CFA francs excluding tax and duty, the construction of the station was financed by the French Development Agency. a contribution to the municipality of Ouagadougou, says Luc Hallade, French ambassador to Burkina Faso. We are very happy and I am proud of this great achievement. I hope all Ouagadougou users will make full use of it. ”
For safety, the new station has a police station. According to the municipality’s forecasts, the airlines’ income will increase by 25%. “You can leave your truck, shop outside and your truck is safe. You are safe and so are your passengers, ”said Amadoun Diandé, a carrier.
Vincent Dabilgou, Minister of Transport and Urban Mobility, calls on the carriers and users of this new bus station to ensure that this infrastructure is a real production tool: “We needed to be able to win the battle for maintenance and rational use of equipment. My appeal is for discipline, maintenance and cleaning of the station ”.
This new station will create more than 350 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs. It is estimated that it will provide the municipality with a sum of 150 million CFA francs per year in terms of tax.
