The Ivorian General Staff says “unidentified individuals” have opened fire on the guard at the N’Dotré military base. The attack started around 1 o’clock, residents confirm. They really heard fire extinguishers between kl. 1 and 3 at night on April 20-21.

Some even claim that the shooting continued much later that night. Residents of the area also testify about the movements of troops and vehicles around the military camp. On Wednesday afternoon, calm has returned, residents are conducting their activities quietly, even though there are barricades at the entrance to the camp and soldiers on duty.

The identity of the attackers is still unknown. General Lassina Doumbia, chief of the General Staff of the armies, specified that they wanted to force entry into the base before being rejected by the guards.

The fighting left one wounded among the Ivorian forces, three dead and one wounded – now a prisoner – on the side of the attackers. Equipment was also seized.
