Somalia’s Premier Alleges Ethiopian Territorial Seizures Over Oceanic Claims

Ethiopia wants to set up a military base by the Red Sea to assert dominance, said Prime Minister Hamza. “Our position is ironclad. We told Kenya flat out: our sea is non-negotiable. In Turkey, we repeated: no talks will compromise our sovereignty,” Hamza declared.

Hamza stressed Ethiopia’s need to rethink its stance and drop baseless historical narratives meddling in Somali affairs. He emphasized, “When history is scrutinized, Somalia has genuine claims against Ethiopia, not the other way around.”

He added that discussions not infringing on Somalia’s key interests are always welcome.
