Somali Forces Showcase Defeated al-Shabab Militants After Thwarting El-Dher Assault

Dhusamareb (AX) – Somali army showcased the corpses of ten al-Shabab insurgents eliminated during a recent botched attack in El-dher, Galgadud region.

The Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Information declared in a statement on Tuesday that the bodies were stumbled upon on the district’s outskirts after a three-day operation.

The Ministry mentioned capturing several other militants alive during these operations.

Somalia’s government divulged that five of its soldiers were slain in a Saturday skirmish where nearly 50 fighters of the Islamist group al-Shabab met their demise. This clash unfolded in the El-dher district, roughly 350 kilometers (215 miles) north of Mogadishu.

Government troops, bolstered by allied militia forces, got wind of al-Shabab’s ploy to strike Ceeldheer in Galgadud, ambushed, and “obliterated” them, the government revealed in a statement.

For over 16 years, al-Shabab has relentlessly battled the delicate central government in Mogadishu.
