Pope Francis shouts to pray for Tigray

The humanitarian crisis in Tigray is causing Pope Francis concern. In front of the believers who gathered in St. Peter’s Square this Sunday, June 13, the sovereign pope demanded that the violence in the region be stopped and that civilians be avoided from starvation.

as reported from Rome, Eric Senanque

Six months ago, when Ethiopian troops went to war in Tigray, Pope Francis had already expressed his concern about the escalation in the region. This Sunday, it is in the face of the serious humanitarian crisis that the sovereign pope wanted to challenge his conscience.

“I am particularly close to the people of the Tigray region of Ethiopia, who are suffering from a serious humanitarian crisis that is starving the poorest … There is famine today, there is famine there. Down! Pray that the violence will end immediately, that food and health care is guaranteed for all and social harmony is restored as soon as possible. “

I am particularly close to the people of Tigray, Ethiopia, who have been hit by a serious humanitarian crisis. #PrayTogether for violence to end, for food and health care to be guaranteed for all and for social harmony to be restored as soon as possible.

According to UN humanitarian agencies, 350,000 people are starving in Tigray and 30,000 children are at risk of death if food aid is not provided.

Without mentioning them, the pope thanked all the humanitarian actors on the ground who come to the aid of civilian populations.
