opponent Paul Rusesabagina refuses to continue

In Rwanda, Paul Rusesabagina has announced that he will no longer appear before the judges. At the sixth hearing of his trial, on Friday 12 March, the opponent considered that he did not benefit from a fair trial and therefore refused to continue to participate.

Once again, the Court rejected the objections raised by Paul Rusesabagina’s lawyers. They had requested another six months to prepare his defense and investigate this file, according to them, particularly complicated, given that the opponent appears along with about twenty other accused of terrorism.

“My right to a fair trial is not respected. I do not expect any kind of justice from this court, ”Paul Rusesabagina replied, adding that he would no longer attend the hearings.

Friday, March 12, was also marked by new accusations from Callixte Nsabimana, former spokesman for the armed group FLN, also on the quay.

Before the judges, he explained that Paul Rusesabagina was one of the financiers of this rebel group formed in 2018, which has since claimed responsibility for several attacks in southern Rwanda. According to him, Paul Rusesabagina would have personally sent $ 190,000 to FLN generals.
