Northeastern State Denounces Federal Government’s Findings on Counter al-Shabab Mission

Garowe (AX) – The Information Department of Northeastern State
Region firmly rejected the federal government’s claim of 20 al-Shabab fighters being killed in a joint operation.

In an official statement issued, Northeastern State asserted its ability to handle
its own security and reiterated its dedication to rooting out terrorist organizations.

Deputy Information Minister of Somalia, Abdirahman Yusuf
Al-Addaala, informed VOA Somali radio that the federal government launched an offensive against al-Shabab in Northeastern State, aiming for the camps housing their leaders.

The federal government stated that al-Shabab suffered losses
in Galmudug and Hirshabelle, now regrouping in the eastern Northeastern State mountains.
